Dear Friends,

By the time you receive this newsletter the eggnog has dried, the decorations are down, the twinkle lights are put away and your December electric bill has arrived. Is with this in mind that we have packed this first newsletter of the year with loads of information and ideas to help you on your way -and keep those energy bills down.

Some tips to start you off into a greener year, withour even thinking about it:

- Keep a few Led lightbulbs on hand to replace on task lighting when the current ones go out.

- Replace shower heads with low flow shower heads on the kid's bathrooms, -they probably wown't notice.

- Install faucet aerators in bathroom sinks, less water will be wasted.

ctocThe Ambrose Hotel is the first of its kind in becoming LEED certified, using standards set forth by the U.S Green Building Council which established a rating system for the environemntal performance of buildings; and the Ambrose is practiclly writing the book on the Hospitalitty industry category (Which does not excist yet in the LEED standards) We are very proud to be involved with such a landmark.

As the only female green hotellier in the US, Deidre Wallace, with the Ambrose Hotel has created the standard for other hotels to follow. Taking the Ambrose the green route was not easy, there where no guidelines taylored to the Hotel Industry, so Deidre followed the LEED standards for industrial buildings and then took it several steps further by implementing green practices into the Hotels day to day operations like the Towel and Linnen Reusage Program, low flow toilets and shower heads in every room, and letterhead on 100% recycled paper and soy ink print. She also ask for the colaboration of her suppliers during the construction phase "During the manufacturing phase, Gerald found alternative materials to meet our budget and efficency demands; during and after the installation phase, he went out of his way to make sure the final pieces were just right."

ledItem of the Month:
LED lightbulbs

LED lightbulbs last longer than regular bulbs, they consume less energy and are closer to the color of natural daylight which helps you stay alert and concentrated. They are great for task lighting like reading lamps, frame lamps and night lights since they give directional lighting. There are also decorative choices like this LED bulb, (photo to right) that even appears like a real candle flame, we suggest you replace the decorative candles and bulbs on your chandeliers for a more inspired environment. An additional table lamp with energy efficient LED bulb will help to balance the light in that room. We suggest your room. Remember having diferent types and levels of lighting will only enhace you ambiance and décor.
